First Round as an upcoming speaker, sharing a rare look into how experimental design ideas are first introduced to clients.

At First Round, speakers present the original PDF, Keynote, or deck they used the very first time a client encountered a set of design explorations. Talia’s talk will walk through one such presentation, examining how designers can communicate intention, authorship, and strategy when working with systems shaped by computation, generative tools, and emerging technologies.

Drawing from recent projects that blend brand strategy, generative systems, and social storytelling, Talia will explore how designers frame unfamiliar processes, guide conversations around unpredictability, and build trust at the earliest—and often most fragile—stage of a project. Her presentation offers insight into how complex ideas are structured, narrated, and defended before outcomes are fully defined.

Through this first-round lens, the talk highlights presentation as a critical design tool in itself—revealing how clarity, framing, and conviction can shape whether ambitious work moves forward. Additional details, including date and registration, will be announced soon.

The 2025 International Assembly—running from November 6–21 in Glasgow, Scotland—brings together designers, technologists, artists, and big thinkers for a rich program of conference sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and more.

Talia Cotton will kick off the festival as one of this year’s headlining speakers, alongside 

Talia’s keynote will spotlight Cotton’s newest body of work, exploring how design and technology can serve as active tools for making change—visually, structurally, and beyond design. Drawing from recent projects that merge generative systems, brand strategy, and social storytelling, she will discuss how computation can deepen meaning, expand authorship, and reimagine the boundaries of contemporary design practice.

The all-day conference portion of International Assembly takes place on Friday, November 7, at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, opening at 9:30 a.m. and running through 6:00 p.m. Beyond the keynote, the festival features weekend workshops, live-project challenges, an international poster exhibition, and social events—all designed for connection across disciplines and seniorities.

Registration is open now, and attendance is in-person only; sessions will not be recorded, emphasizing live engagement and serendipity.

CodeCrafted: Generative Design in Branding

 invites designers, studios and thinkers to explore how programming, algorithms and data-driven systems are reshaping brand identity—visually, conceptually and structurally.

Across 304 pages, the book presents cutting-edge examples of generative and parametric visual systems applied to branding—from printed matter and motion graphics to interactive, adaptive identities. It features work from leading studios such as DIA, DEPT® and LAVA, accompanied by essays from generative-design pioneers such as Patrik Hübner and Tim Rodenbröker.
