System Health
System organizes the world’s knowledge as one interconnected system. System Health brings that thinking to medicine, revealing the hidden relationships between the many forces that shape health and disease.
Cotton was invited to create a generative visual system that could embody this idea.
The resulting motif depicts health for what it is: a living network in flux.
Biological, behavioral, and environmental factors interact. Forces come in varying degrees. Conditions linger or fade. Dormant drivers reawaken as circumstances change. Symptoms emerge and recede. And trails reveal the shifts over time, showing how one change can trigger another, cascade across the system, or quietly dissipate.
Nothing stands alone; everything affects another.
The system becomes a dynamic portrait of health itself: complex, interconnected, and always evolving.

The brief: NOT this. Systems are typically portrayed as nodes connected by lines. Even when seen in three dimensions—implying each point as three qualities—still fails to communicate the nuances of the connections and impacts of each factor.
A graphic minifilm tells the story of System Health: transforming health from silos into systems.

The visual motif is used to accompany the System Health sub-brand.
